Tämä oli todella hyvä omaelämäkerrallinen sarjakuva ei-binäärisen ihmisen näkökulmasta. Etenkin vaikeus omien pronominien löytämisestä ja käyttämisestä oli koskettavaa - onneksi suomen kielessä "hän" kattaa kaikki.

Samastuin paljon kohtaan, jossa Kobabe keskusteli äitinsä kanssa siitä, ettei aio hankkia lapsia ja pitää kehon sisällä kasvavaa entiteettiä parasiittina. Hänen äitinsä ei ymmärrä, vaan nauraa parasiitti-kommentille ja toteaa, että Maia olisi hyvä äiti. Vapaaehtoisesti lapsettomia kritisoidaan usein siitä, että me olemme itsekkäitä. Kobabe toteaa, että hän katuisi lasta ja hän haluaakin olla itsekäs ja pitää oman ajan omanaan. Allekirjoitan.

as an afab nonbinary person who seeks true androgyny, I don’t often meet people who share(d) my experience(s), especially growing up, and this memoir was like a cozy, affirming hug. really easy to read and emotional and beautifully written. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
