I feel like this whole book was just a weird fever dream that makes absolutely no sense. I was very invested in the beginning of the story. It felt like there was a lot of potential for something really interesting to happen. But nothing ever did. I kept thinking the story was building up to some main event that would make everything connect or make everything make sense. But nope, it didn’t.
It kept flashing back to events when Benny was younger when he saw some crazy bug creature, but I don’t even know what the point of sharing that was. It didn’t connect to the present day story, it was just a wildly crazy small detail of his past I guess? There were long paragraphs of ramblings, & tiny details that made the story drag on. Some of the side characters would give long speeches about very detailed facts about them selves that again didn’t move the story forward or make any sense. I almost DNFed once it started becoming nonsense.
