Koontz is a master writer, having a romp here. But it's kind of a hot mess. Fun; partly original, partly not; and he does a lot of run-on sentences and "breaking the fourth wall" asides that didn't work for me. Not very much like his other books. Nonetheless, he's having so much fun I feel guilty for taking it seriously. Mostly enjoyable; just not as well-crafted as his prime work.

I have no idea what the point of this book was. I was intrigued at the beginning, which made me want to keep reading but then it kind of lost me. It was just fine. An easy read. Kind of disjointed and weird. I did not like the author’s asides where he pulls you out of the story to explain things to you like you’re an idiot incapable of figuring it out on your own.
Not catching me. Too many characters and jumping back and forwards too quick.
