Wow! What a way to leave this series. A Touch of Malice is the third book in what will be a four book series (book four won’t come out for another year, though) and I am relieved to have the series end at this book and not the previous book.

Persephone has done a lot of growing between the three books, and by ATOM she is aware of her shortcomings and actually thinks through her actions more. One of my biggest issues with the previous book is that Persephone runs headfirst into situations without thinking things through all the way. While still very much headstrong, in ATOM it is clear that Persephone is now changing and communicating with others before making such large decisions. I think this is a sign of her maturity, as well as evidence of her beginning to fill the role as Queen.

Most of this book takes place with the Gods, so again we’re left with little surrounding Persephone’s life outside of Hades and her actual job. I didn’t have any problems with this and instead I actually really enjoyed that we got to meet more gods. Compared to the first book, where Persephone insisted on having her mortal life, in ATOM it has definitely taken the back burner and I think this is because Persephone’s priorities have shifted, and naturally with the war on the gods she isn’t going to want to spend her days writing for her online blog.

My only issue with this book is that we finished ATOR with it being August. ATOM picks back up in the same setting but in July… I won’t say that this is a simple mistake because, to be honest, the timeline is very general and the month was right there on the last page, so it shouldn’t have been easy to mistake. Instead, what happened was, as a reader, I felt a disconnect at the beginning of the book because I was constantly thinking to myself “Wait, did I read the last book wrong? Was it really July?” Sure it’s only a month’s difference, but the reason it is snowing is so shocking is because it is still summer so really, it should’ve been the correct month in both books.

This is a great book that completely redeemed the series for me. Persephone and Hades’s story is so intense and passionate that I’m loving seeing how they come together. The fourth book can’t come soon enough!

My Rating: 3.5 ⭐️

This book is meh.

I honestly was staying for the smut and bc it’s an easy read, but the smut has just not improved. Yes this is the third book but the first was intriguing enough for me to continue, the smut enough to keep me going, and the plot has been ok from the start but not great.

I knew what I signed up for and here I am just over it. I truly love Hades x Persephone it’s literally my OTP but these two fall flat as can be. I don’t like Persephone, she’s annoying and constantly being a bitch to Hades like there’s no trust at all, and Hades is like too ducking nice. Like I love a good soft emo boi but give him a kinky edge!

The smut is so vanilla. Like they barely got spicy in the THIRD book. Most of the sex scenes are super basic and I’m just bored by the end of each one.

This book should be names “A touch of “are you well?””

Also that cliffhanger!!!! Gotta wait until November for next one dammit

This book was awesome. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ just because the first half was a little hard to get through but that ending… AHHHHHH. Omg. What a cliffhanger to leave it on! The other books were wrapped up so nicely that I figured this one would be too. A Touch of Chaos isn’t going to be out until September and the Hades POV - A Game of Gods sometime this year.

This one focused on the fact that Hades and Persephone are engaged now but still have to seek approval from Zeus to get married. The first half seemed like it moved pretty slow - preparing for the wedding - but boy did it pick up in the last half. Super frustrated how Theseus left Hades and I feel like the amount of death and destruction in this one is going to be minuscule compared to what is to come! Super excited for when the rest of the series!

While Persephone and Hades have accepted their attraction and love for each other - Demetor does not! Blazing weather with snow and sleet streams over New Athens mirroring Demetor's mood over the engagement of Hades x Persephone.
.
Attached to this is the growing rage in mortals to not worship the Gods and the unfairness that is often meted out to these beings, while Gods are never punished for their deeds. Gods are being attacked and a group called Triad also emerges.
.
Whilst the sexual intimacy between Hades and Persephone rises, the two also get to see the deeper sides of each other. Persephone has too come to terms with her magic and harness it.
.
War looms in the horizon as mortals demand the rise new Gods, Demetor seems to be siding against Olympians and Zeus also seems not open to the alliance between Persephone and Hades.
.
Will the union of the king and queen to be of underworld destroy everything that is known bringing war and destruction? What is the way out?
.
Although I was irked with too many a sex scenes at every given moment between the two protagonists, the plot otherwise really quirks my interest and the ending to this one kind of really throws me, waiting to see what happens in the next one - a touch of chaos?

Alright, they’re really growing on me now. It seems they’re finally getting over their communication issues and the rest of the stuff going on in the story is WILD.  And holy buckets that ending.
