I love these cozy and quick reads! I love the characters very much.

This one was not as fun or magical as the first, but regardless, I’m looking forward to the next one.

I am having a lot of fun with this series! The magical systems are frustratingly unexplored and the mysteries are kind of obvious, but it moves quick and doesn't take itself seriously. I usually don't like wise cracking talking animals, they are never as clever as the author wants them to be, but I honestly enjoy Selene.

It's a fun serious. No thinking required. Just what I need

This was another great read from Danielle Garrett. She's become an auto-buy (or request) author for me, as I can count on her cozy mysteries to have fantastic characters, fun mysteries, and great humor. This was no exception.

My favorite part of these books is Selene, Cora's familiar. She's a talking cat and has the exact personality you'd expect a cat to have. She cracks me up and Amanda Ronconi's narration delivers her snark perfectly. I love all the characters and I'm really enjoying watching Cora and Clint's blooming romance alongside her and Roger's awkward interactions 18 months post-divorce. It's not a relationship we see in books that often and I really am enjoying the way Danielle Garrett wrote it; it's a reality of life and I like having a life after divorce book that's not ugliness either.

I also love the little town and just the laid-back life. Cora rides her bike to work most days. She runs a magical candle shop and mentions more than once possibly opening late... just so relaxed. One morning she can't sleep and goes out on the lake to kayak at like 4:30am. Those little sprinkles, mixed in with mystery of her missing aunt and a local death make the story such a treat to read.

As I've already mentioned, Amanda Ronconi narrated this. I've said it many times, but I'll say it again - Amanda Ronconi is in my 5 narrators for sure. She's the perfect narrator for these kinds of books, the cozy mystery, snarky humor, and small-town characters are performed beautifully. SHe really brings the stories to life, and I look forward to more from both her and Danielle Garrett in this series!
