It was good, I enjoyed it. There were some niggles that kept it from being 5 stars though. It was slow in parts, with pages passing with little more than descriptions of day-to-day activities and certain awkward phrasing made me raise a few eyebrows. This is also the second book I’ve read recently that had a subplot about smuggled Napoleon diamonds which used the same twist as to where they were hidden. I can’t tell if this is just something that actually happened in history or whether one of the authors was ‘inspired.’
