I really enjoyed how the two characters opened up to each other about their pasts, which brought them closer.

I did like the idea of the competitiveness of writing the book between them.

I always have enjoyed Emily Henry’s writing style and I think I will buy her other books that I haven’t read yet.

You could feel the emotion she has put into this book from the characters which I felt personally too.

I didn't expect to cry so much in a feel-good, summer romance, but here we are!
I appreciate the realistic and complex characters dealing with real life issues. I do wish the blurb for the book had at least mentioned that grief / death of a parent would be a huge motivator for the plot.

That being said, the romance itself took up the majority of the story and really felt like watching a rom-com.

Overall a nice read, but definitely check the CWs and make sure you're in the right place to read it!

I will absolutely be checking out more books by this author.

I think EH books are not for me. I find romance in them unconvincing, characters forgettable, and spice mechanical. I guess it’s a solid story, but Gus and January will never live rent-free in my mind for weeks.

I really really liked this book, the characters are just so good and I loved their ongoing bet for our main plot while exploring their relationship together and with everyone around them.
Also loved the casual lesbian relationship of aunt Pete and her wife! I love when it’s just there and it’s not made to be a big deal or part of the plot.

I didn’t find myself emerged in it though, it took me quite a while to finish because I kept getting distracted..

Definitely like Emily Henry’s writing style though, so I’ll check out more of her work soon!
