I really could not decide what to rate this. Gave me major Woom by Duncan Ralston vibes- with more angst. I mean check trigger warnings, or go in blind like me. Either way I think you’ll be shocked, disgusted and yet you’ll continue flipping the pages (luckily it’s a short book

“I’m smiling as I let the smoke out of my lungs and into the warm July night. In my mind, I’m already unwrapping the bandages.”

wow, this was god-awful. how many times can one book repeat the line “i fuck dead girls”? like, i think we get it: you have an “dark and edgy” sense of humor and hate women! get in line with all the other male shock horror authors. the writing style, dialogue, and character development were all absolute dogshit.

literally every page is a corny description of necrophilia and/or cannibalism to the point where i was bored and cringing not even at the graphic content but at the complete lack of any semblance of talent or self awareness that the writing displays. you can definitely do exploitative and disturbing content well, but Morrison clearly does not understand how.

besides one scene, it wasn’t as gruesome as i thought it was gonna be. a very fk’d up book, don’t be like me, look up trigger warnings. lol  being inside the mind of an obvious incel was exhausting, but he was so pathetic and cringey that it was hilarious.

Very campy horror. It won’t shock you if you expect to be shocked. Unnatural story told in an unnatural way. Very goofy.

laughable but certainly not funny

someone out there is swearing to you that you just have to *get* this book, man. trust! it's really funny! it's satire!

i'm sorry lil bro i think you're slowly learning your sense of humor is dogshit

wahoo

the book is very redundant, very bland, very boring. not much happens. the whole appeal is that 1.) dude is a necrophiliac and 2.) his love interest eats babies. is that shocking? are you feeling super duper shocked right now little man

anyway, after your initial shock of this very shocking premise wears off, you'll find yourself in the rhythm of a story that goes nowhere. you'll be shocked by all the turns the story doesn't take! you may even be shocked by a twist that's set up in the last 20 pages of the book! look here little fella this ain't your momma's softcore horror novel this is that REAL horror this is that you BETTER NOT EVEN TOUCH THIS BOOK horror this is that NO TENSION NO ATMOSPHERE STRAIGHT TO THE BAD WRITING kind of horror, aka TRUE horror this is that—

ahem

and you'll say to yourself "but i hear such good things about this book from the goth booktuber on youtube! THE youtube!!!!"

and then you'll remind yourself that you should never listen to a single thing the internet tells you ever, especially people with wimpy stomachs that equate feeling nauseated for 2 seconds to having their "lives" "changed" by a novel

if i had a dime for all the times a novel did not change my life

thanks have a good day turdknockers of storygraph

I gotta be honest, I don’t remember the name of the MMC. Helen was so unhinged that my brain completely forgot the man had a name, only that he hooks up with dead girls.

I wanted to read something dark, but man was this on another level. It was dark, uncomfortable, yet I couldn’t stop reading it. In the end, I liked it.
