Wish I could delete this one from by brain and read it for the first time again. Incredible world building and an extremely lovable main character, this one's going in my top 10 of all time for sure.

Susanna Clarke is an excellent world builder. Her attention to detail is impressive in the layout of this book. This book to me was like a mixture between The Old Man and the Sea and A Clockwork Orange. Somewhat laborious to read, but compelling enough to finish and with a very distinctive voice and vocabulary. The best word I can use to describe it is “intriguing”. My only complaint was that the ending felt rather abrupt, I was expecting Piranesi to return to the House and completely abandon the “Old World”. I turned the last page looking for another chapter. Overall, I enjoyed the story told and the way in which it was told.

This is really overhyped copaganda imo. There are parts I enjoyed but the negative aspects brought it down especially bc its very slow and pretty anticlimactic.

One of the most formidable things I have ever read.

This is like a 4, but also more? It's a really interesting concept. I liked how the story was told as well. However, it also took me multiple tries over a few years to get into it enough that I could stick with it. I liked the beginning of this story the most. Uncovering all the secrets and the end just felt a bit empty to me.
