This book—wow. Why did it take me so long to finish it?! This was really a rollercoaster of emotions and I was certainly not prepared for what was coming. It was written so freaking well! It was so, so good. Love, hate, everything. I wanted to trash the book (not really, love this baby) because SJM wrote it so well. Could you get through all the stages of happiness and grief in a minute. It's a ride, but it's definitely worth it. When you finished the first book, don't let it take too long to finish the second becauze I regret that part. Good thing though: I started my year and finished January with a really good book. I'm still utterly shocked that I don't know what to say except for that it was so good. And I will repeat that.

Cliffhanger

The ACOTAR series is such an easy read. The problems that are focused on are much more relatable when it comes to mental health and relationships. I think that’s why so many people love it.

This book starts 3 months after the ending of ACOTAR. The POV is so heavily on Feyre and her journey, that not much is know about what else is going on in the kingdoms.

The first half of the book is very much about Feyre’s mental health and getting her identity back. It’s slower, for sure. But so many interesting bits of information is given as we look into Rhys and the night courts ways. Once things pick up, they really pick up.

The characters are really well written and expanded on. The plot is slow because of all the relationship building, but once things get going, they sprint.

In the end you are on the edge of your seat with a great cliffhanger, NEEDING the next book immediately.

Feel like it’s not a TRUE 5 star because I’m comparing it too much to the first ACOTAR book which was easily 2-3 stars for me. This one was infinitely better. The actual presence of a plot, the 100% more believable
slow-burn/enemies-to-lovers
, the 10x steamier sex… what more can I ask for tbh? Maybe a slightly better pacing and delving a bit deeper into protag’s relationships with characters other than the love interest would be the answers that would make it 5 stars.
