I enjoyed listening to the first and second book via audiobook. I think the narrator did a good job. Though like every time with audiobooks and with a single narrator, It isn't always clear who talkes or within a chapter if we're still in the same paragraph/timeline or even location. Sometimes I felt not having a map or the names of characters or things in this fantasy world were a little disadvantageous but I could easily search for it online. So all in all I can recommend the audiobook.

•  I like S.J.M.'s descriptions of cities, landscapes and clothes
• I think the basis/premise of the world is very interesting
•  I enjoy fantasy stories where the MCs train and get to know their powers like in this story and I enjoy the fight scenes
•  I do like that the focus is on different relationships (friendships and romantic – found family)
•  I am invested enough to be curious how the story continues/I want to finish the series
• I liked that they flirted via letters/texts (kinda made it feel a little 21st century)

• Though I liked the descriptions it is a long ass book.
• maybe I'm not getting it but sometimes I don't believe the threads of some plots come together so that they "make sense" to me. Sometimes I got confused by the world building or the magic system rules or the change in behavior or descriptions of creatures.
  -> Either I don't get it but mostly I feel like I notice how she introduces/ changes certain characters, plot points to get the story where she wants to. But I don't feel like it's quite built in nicely/naturally which takes me out of the story.
  • Why do girls already mature with 14 like humans even though they're faey?
    How they age and their development stages are confusing
• especially the end and the cauldron and book story seems so weird and inconsistent...
• ... also that the solution seems to be her giving herself up to Tamlin again? I don't get it tbh (for the advancement of the plot and character yes but again, felt the execution lacked)
• the trials with the weaver, bone carver, orbe... don't seem very necessary, also the reasons behind why they encountered them are more than a little weak /not natural, except to further the romance/character development get the story where she wants
• Very cringe at times, mostly concerning the romance plot(s)/wording (but I have that with pretty much any romance)
• Sometimes they say: "that's his/her story to tell..." other times people go in depths about trauma's others have endured... 
• Less spice than advertised
• very fast character development/pivots:
• Don't think the whole "Tamlin turning bad"-storyline is convincing enough for me and he seems dafter, also ....not necessary. I can imagine maybe the author wanted to create a situation where the readers may reflect in the sense of: "everybody could end up in a abusive relationship", "people can change", "people aren't what they seem"... I can appreciate that.... Or maybe it's just so we automatically "ship" the new couple. but I believe it could be told more convincingly.

I really wanted to like this book more but, like it's predecessor, the relationship dynamics leave a bad taste in my mouth. The plot twists from the first book are really satisfying, but the "mates" stuff is really uncomfortable and doesn't fit in with the lush fantasy of the rest of the book. 

That being said I'll probably continue reading the series. I like the characters and the fantasy elements are generally well done. I like that this is a ya book that doesn't shy from violence, but it also doesn't relish violence either.

I'll continue to fast forward through the "mates" stuff and many of the sex scenes, but that isn't a total deal breaker for me.

I thought this book was phenomenal! I haven’t loved a series this much in YEARS! The second book in this series was even better than the first! I couldn’t believe how everything started piecing together but by bit until I understood everything, and the ending was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏻. I will be reading number three ASAP! Thank God I already bought it 😌 I don’t know if I could wait any longer to see what happens!

A Court of Thorns and Roses delivers the well-worn, somewhat predictable beats and tropes we know and love in fun and exciting ways, hitting the right beat at every twist and turn. By contrast, A Court of Mist and Fury takes a sharp left away from what seems to be shaping up as an equally well-known plot in the early chapters. Maas is incredibly bold as she turns this fairy tale ending on its head in an unexpected journey into social change, personal agency, the many shapes of love, and healing from trauma.

No matter what, the best part of this book is Rhysand and Feyre. Seeing Rhys do everything for Feyre out of his love for her was so sweet and it broke my heart when she didn’t appreciate it. The beauty of this book is really shown through those two. Feyre, learning to heal after what happened in ACOTAR, finds the steadfast support of Rhys jarring at first, but over time she comes to realize that the life she was living before was not her own and decides to take control of her own destiny.

I enjoyed this book immensely and loved the characters. The Inner Circle have this chemistry together that is unparalleled and adds to the enjoyment value even more.

Ok, now onto the only gripe I have about this masterpiece. Which is Feyre. I feel like the 1st person POV that this book is set in really undermines Feyre and limits her potential as a character. All of the Is encourage me, as the reader, to put myself into Feyre’s shoes and pretend to be her while I read and that is ok in some situations, but in others I really don’t like it. Maybe I’m comparing her too much to SJM’s other lead Aelin, who is arguably my favorite character ever, but I feel like so much more expression could have come from Feyre as a character.

It took me forever to read this, first of all, because of finals and graduation season, but I made it (barely) and I'm here (maybe).

This dang book, y'all... I seriously have no words. I want to scream and shout and let it all out when I figure out what "it" is. This book made me feel all the feels; I felt bipolar for a minute because of how quickly the emotions were coming and how intense everything was. I was hooked for all 624 pages of this book, but I am going to need to recover from this experience. I need some time hahaha.

On a real note, because this book was pretty much spoiled for me on TikTok and such, I had an interesting reading experience. I was able to see the hints of where the story was going, which were so well-crafted. For example, in the beginning of the book when Feyre is pretty much dying at the Spring Court and symbolically flying free in the Night Court. Maas did so well in making the reader hate Tamlin like Feyre did and despise the smell of him in the end like she did. I was completely floored by this experience. Going to read/finish a couple more books before picking up ACOWAR.
