I was so emotional at the ending, I was so captivated by the story and it's characters, and I want more. I'm getting my hand on the next book as fast as I can.

The one thing that annoyed me was how some of the plot and side characters were cast aside to focus on the romance. I skimmed some of the very romantic parts like of describing them kissing and stuff because I'm just not interested in that. Still the rest of the book was so wonderfully written I couldn't give it less than 5 stars.

The Good:
• Beautiful prose
• Omniscient narrator, looks into all POV
• World building unfolds gradually

The Bad:
• Romance felt a bit shallow

You Might Like This if You Like:
• Disney's Atlantis
• Lost Kingdoms
• Fairytales

Wow! I adored my time in Weep. Laini Taylor's prose here is very soothing—perfectly suited for the dreaminess of this story.

The lost kingdom premise sucked me in immediately. It reminded me very much of Atlantis, which has been a comfort movie for me for awhile.

I really enjoyed both Lazlo and Sarai as protagonists. They're both thoughtful and caring. That said, I felt that the relationship between them was very surface level. I get that this is YA, but it was almost too fairytale for me.

Tldr; I hate the age gap between Lazlo and Sarai, because it was entirely unnecessary as the characters speak for themselves. The setting is beautiful.

I really really love Laini Taylor. Her ability to worldbuild is so unique and incredible to experience. The characters? Beautiful. The emotions? Even better. And the style of writing? I was a hundred pages in before I even realized time had passed 😅 my one small issue is that she tends toward flowery language, and the result is usually beautiful and evocative and whimsical, but when it doesn't land, it ends up clunky and awkward. But that's rare, and overshadowed by everything else that's good about the book.
