Another amazing book from this author. A queer Paper Towns that morphs into a beautiful coming of age against all the odds. Truly would have been 5 stars if the beginning weren’t so cringe! I know that’s the point of the character’s POV and I *know* I was like that myself as a teenager, but as a reading experience it was rough being thrown in the deep end!

Not really the type of book I usually read, however I really liked it.
Having some religious trauma myself it describes nicely how it is to grow up in such environments. Catholic school is never a good place to grow as a person.

Anyway, reading to queer stories like this one make me wonder if my life had been different if I had been exposed to more of the world on those important years in which you grow up and learn things about yourself.
It took me quite a while to realise I was queer and kind of wish I had known it sooner, but at the same time I'm thankful about my process not being difficult as it would have been if I had known before the moment I did.

Stunden seid Shara Wheelers Verschwinden: 12, Tage bis zum High School Abschluss: 42...

- I kissed Shara Wheeler, Episode 1

"I wanted you to see me."

The first half of this book is slow in a way that feels unavoidable, but was still disappointing to read. However, the mystery of where Shara has gone and why she's left all these clues purposefully hooked me right away. Once
Chloe finds the titular girl, and their dynamic fully reveals itself,
that is when I became enraptured with the whirlwind of I Kissed Shara Wheeler.

I do find it a shame that the rest of the cast gets pushed to the side in order for Chloe and Shara to flourish; they had some real potential and emotional beats that aren't truly explored beyond the surface level.
