DNF at 75%

I found the SE at a Used Book Store & was very excited to have found such a gem! I have never read anything prior by this Author. But, I was intrigued with the premise. What started out really promising, soon began to unravel.

All of these were issues in the book early on. I really gave it a chance and overlooked a lot of stumbles:

-FMC wakes up in the hospital after a few days, having to discover she was assaulted & her brother did not survive the attack. (There was a lack of serious injuries that I was looking for, or an explanation to why exactly the fmc, Brielle, lost her memories. But, I rolled with it as it wasn’t something I got hung up on).

-Because her brothers killer has still not been found or there are any viable leads, the prosecution has told the family and friends to not in any way assist Brielle with her memories. As it would be seen as undermining her testimony. (Odd, but again I rolled with it).

-I was pretty bummed out that very, very early on you discover out Brielle was in a secret relationship. (This is something I would have LOVED to have been something discovered near the end of the book).

-Even though there were definitely things that were very cute and had me continuing to read, I realized that a lot of what I read up until the 75% mark really had no purpose to the story. And I did not feel like I wanted to read how the Author was going to cram in the conclusion to who the killer was in the remaining 10 Chapters. Not to mention the way she threw in a lovely “break up act”, which made no sense….

This story had potential, but the way it was executed was too boring and didn’t have a clear destination. Bummed that this book let me down.

Okay, met these folks briefly in one of the previous books and I liked them so I wanted to read their story too. And holy crap, it had been alluded to but I had no idea what was coming. This is technically romantic suspense, which I didn't think would be my jam for some reason even though thrillers and mysteries used to be my genre before I got back into romance. Memory loss, secrets, loss of a loved one. Lots going on and it was interesting! It also dropped the bomb of book two brilliantly right at the end and I will definitely be moving on to that one next.

Lots of intrigue, chemistry and suspense!

I usually don’t like amnesia storylines, but I really enjoyed this one! This book had great world building, fantastic characters, intrigue, suspense, sizzling chemistry between Spencer and Brielle, and more! I can’t wait to see what is up with Emmett in his book!

My heart!!

This book was heartbreaking, suspenseful and beautiful. I couldn't put it down. This story is so beautiful. Corrine Michaels knows how to wreck you. Brielle loses her memory from the last 3yrs, and Spencer has to try to get his love of his life back, and find out who killed his best friend and brielle's brother.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Would recommend, almost perfect and likely would reread.

I was incredibly underprepared for this book and I am not usually an amnesia girlie but Corinne Michaels does it well.

Brielle has waken up to find out that her brother has been killed and she was the only eye witness however she has forgotten the last three years because of the injuries she sustained. Now not only does she have to find out who her brother's killer is but also piece her life back together and the biggest bomb of all is she has a secret fiancé. But who is there to help? Her brother's best friend of course and she has to ensure that her memories come back natural as to not ruin the investigation.

I loved all the characters involved there was so much fun and love around Brielle. The reveals were absolutely not what was expecting, I was absolutely blindsided by the ending but that could just be me being dumb. That being said there was a really great flow to this book and made it easy to read and follow, all I wanted was more and more. I will definitely be reading more from Corinne in the new year.

Tropes: brother's best friend, amnesia, romantic suspense
Triggers: grief, loss of a loved one

The blurb of this book had me hooked and I could see it having a lot of mystery and suspense but unfortunately it just fell a little off to me. There were so many areas I felt the book could have gone to make it a five star read.

The writing wasn’t my usual style and I cringed more than I would like but overall I thought it was worth the read.

The way she got her memory and how everything came together didn’t make a lot of sense to me and I didn’t quite get the concept of not wanting to tell her certain things about what she forgot. It seemed unnecessary in some places and a bit excessive the way it was handled. It wasn’t a bad book but I just expected something different, might check out her other books because those look interesting as well.
