Over the top, offensive, ridiculous, never takes itself too seriously and all the better for it

Holy fuck. I haven't been so conflicted on what to rate a book in a long time. While I highly enjoyed the overall plot of this, I found it very hard to get over how every single woman is treated in this book. The toxic masculinity in this was so overwhelming I could smell Axe body spray every time I flipped a page. I'm just SO PISSED because I really loved hating these characters. I'll read the next volume to see if it gets any better but if it doesn't there's plenty of other brutal bloody goodness for me to get into.

God this took forever and there’s just so much writing. I think it’s definitely good and has important elements but I feel like the writing needs to be cut down or the format changed because as a comic it just doesn’t quite work sometimes and there’s so so much going on

The Boys is a particularly interesting combination of the talents of Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan). Featuring a band of agents WITH government ties AND unlimited resources, faced with the task of keeping the ranks of super"heroes" in check, this book's a keeper.

Can't wait to see the live action film, with Simon Pegg playing Wee Hughie.
