Dig the premise, dig the Butcher and Terror, once again Ennis writes women...less than, but I'm interested to see where this goes!
Simon Pegg's face everywhere throws me :).

I’ve heard the show is better and I think that will be true, this first volume climbed its way from a 3 to a 4 for me. It’s an early 2000’s edge lord comic book that some rewrites at Prime have definitely helped smooth out, but it’s enjoyable. It’s fun to come across the differences as ya go.
Decided to read the series in preparation for the Amazon adaptation. Wow, absolutely loved it. I love the rawness and dark humour of it.Looking forward to learning more about the characters as the story unfolds.
I don't mind the violence and cynicism, but the vulgarity is a bit much.
After watching rhe show I decided to read this one. Amazing how they adapted to screen each character despite the physical differences and story intensity here and there, the core concepts are identical. I believe the comics are still heavier than the show (believe me, I didn't think that would be possible) After reading, although I love the show's Hughie, I would love to see how Simon Pegg would perform as him.
After finishing and loving 'Gen V' on Amazon I thought I would read the source material.
It was even darker than the 3 shows it spawned, it is still funny though.

Honestly, I have nothing nice to say about this other than it's a good thing I didn't read this first or I'd have never given the show a chance. The art is ugly, and the story is all macho bullshit. It's literally painful to read because it's just cringeworthy. It feels like the plot was hatched by some edgelord teens in the back of a high school classroom, patting themselves on the back for how dark they are and how most people won't understand their humor. It's not clever, it's just pathetic.
Pretty much the show but dialled up to 100% and such a more accurate; biting portrayal of superheroes and American capitalism through the unhinged viewpoint of Garth Ennis. It's shocking for shock values sake, yes - but there's a point here; which I think, like Snyder's Watchmen, the show misses. Very blunt and hard-edged without the time-wasting that the show had. Big fan.
