I don't think I really gained anything useful from reading this book.
There's a lot of swearing, and a lot of advice, but I don't think I can just decide not to give a f*ck about my depression or anxiety - mental illness doesn't work like that, much as I would like it to.
I appreciate what he's trying to say, but at the end of the day there was a lot of swearing, and I was honestly quite bored throughout most of this.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was fine - good speaking voice, and didn't annoy me at all (except for the constant swearing, which was not his fault).
Overall, pretty disappointing and underwhelming book.

A good listen. Aligned with my thinking that you have to say no to things in order to say yes to what you care about. Challenged mine and society's views on exceptionalism, which I appreciated and which would fix what's happening now (Aug 2025). Overall, liked it.

So first book of the year. I was trying to find something to help thicken my skin so I wouldn’t take things as personally as I know I am likely to do. Didn’t really get that advice but a really interesting way of looking at the world.

I've really been on my self-help grind lately! This book was interesting, I found some of the stories to be useful and definitely liked the overall message, and I will be taking some tidbits from this into my life. I think in terms of realising the amount of agency I have in my life and taking responsibility for my own problems and also just sometimes doing something and not caring what others think this is helpful. I don't agree with everything the author says and I find him slightly unlikeable at times, but overall this was a cool book. I liked the last half a lot more than the first half for sure. Would reread to get a bit more, maybe I will read Arisha's annotated copy!
1/2 a star! Utter rubbish!!!! You could just read the summary and it would be as good as reading the book. It has the same thing written in different sentences. 🤦
