10/10 concept, 1/10 execution. i didn’t give a single crap about evelyn or arden until the end — truly some of the flattest characters i’ve ever read. i loved the twist, and the greece chapter towards the end was a highlight. but why is this getting such rave reviews when it was written SO POORLY??? i nearly DNF’ed. this really could have been something cool, but it wasn’t, and for that i am sad.

3.5 stars! I enjoyed this one, there was a turn in the book around 75% that felt unnatural to the rest of the plot which made the book hard to rate highly.

For fans of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab and Orlando by Virginia Woolf this phenomenal YA romantasy blew me away. An absolutely brilliant example of a new and refreshing narrative that sounds out in this genre. It was dark and complex and mysterious and from 80% onwards I was on the edge of my seat. No spoilers, it has to be read!
