I think Adrian Tchaikovsky might be my favourite author writing today. I am always completely captivated by his worldbuilding, and every book or series varies wildly from the last. This is certainly no exception. It was weird and intense and the galaxy had such a DEEP history that you could feel had more and more layers to uncover.

I will also add that he is not afraid to kill his characters, which kicks the tension up a notch as well.

Pacing was a little rough, it felt like more than half of the book was set-up and disconnected hijinks before the major plot finally breaks. But the hijinks are enjoyable, the POV characters are all strong, and the major plot HITS when it hits. I'm swiftly becoming a huge Adrian Tchaikovsky enjoyer.
