A very interesting read! I couldn't put it down, although I do think that many things should be taken with a grain of salt... as is the case with most personal memoirs.

It took me longer than usual to finish this cause I've been in a book slump :( I read Memoirs of a Geisha in middle school and it was one of my favorite books, then I found out that the guy who wrote it was white???? ANYWAYS, I found this book so interesting! She led such an interesting life!

this was very educational. it did seem part history part memoir to me. at the parts directed to the negative connotation of the geisha it seemed heavy handed, but made sense

Absolutely devoured this. This biography creates a wonderful window into the rituals of traditional Japanese culture the life of a fascinating lady.

It was also really interesting to see where elements of the memoirs of a geisha came from - and the audacity of Arthur Golden to interpret them the way he did.
