I finally figured out why I don’t like Paul trembly’s writing as I was listening to the audiobook. There’s just so many similes and metaphors that just sound so ridiculous and descriptions that are just unnecessary.
Plus, the story just wasn’t great. It’s Covid pandemic fiction and we haven’t even made it through the pandemic. I have read and experienced too much of this genre. It’s obvious this topic just isn’t appealing to people at this point and work as a story. Judging from the ratings, I see a lot of people in agreement.

This is gonna be a short review, because I just don't have a whole lot to say about this one. The beginning was gripping and tense, but then this just started to draaaaaag. I had lost interest in the characters and the plot, and was just so bored. I honestly started skimming somewhere around the halfway mark.
Don't come for me, but I'm just gonna say it- I think the reason why this book is getting such high ratings is because there is a lot in here that can relate to our current pandemic. I can see and acknowledge that, but those aspects still didn't make this a good read for me.

Creepy, ominous, fast-paced, and midly entertaining. This was a middle-of-the road read for me. While I didn't think it was terrible, I didn't think it was great. The premise was great, but it lacked execution.

This was an incredible story, or song I guess I should say. A fresh take on the classic zombie trope which shines a light into the dark corners of conspiracy thought and misinformation.
A sad and beautiful song about a woman's strength to beat all the odds and try to save her unborn baby, looking to the future even as the present collapses around her.
A sad and beautiful song about her friend who's there for her in both of their most trying times. Worth a read from fans of any genre.

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC of Survivor Song.
I enjoyed this book. It dealt with a difficult topic (epidemic) without being overly gory, violent, or traumatic, which turns me off immediately. It's a page turner that I was able to read quickly. The way that characters and society at large seemed to react to the situation was, at least to me, realistic.
