Cannot believe how disappointed this left me

The start was really strong. The mystery was good, the stakes were high, and everything over the previous two books coming together was really good (although Pip’s repetition of how everything was “coming full circles got very annoying and heavy handed, like the author was both patting herself on the back and not trusting the readers to see it for themselves)

But then the last third/half took a serious nosedive. I absolutely hated the direction it took.
Pip choosing to frame Max for Jason’s murder and all her actions after felt so stupid and pointless. I had next to no sympathy for her and Ravi after all that. Especially since evidence that Jason was DT came out in the end anyway, and her whole worry was that nobody would believe her. Just all felt worthless

The stakes and tension remained high, and had my heart pounding at times because I really didn’t know how it was going to end, but I just didn’t really care because I was so mad at the characters

I am pretty much traumatized by this book series, but in all the good ways.
I just need a novela for what has become of "Rip" (Ravi x pip 💀). Also, I need a welfare check on that girl. If I had lived half of her traumas I would be likely in the coffin.

First of all, what a great way to end the series!
I really liked Pip's development
into a spiraling, traumatised character.
At times I couldn't predict her next move. When she
killed DT
I was shocked. At the same time, I've never been more scared for her. That
abduction
was so nerve racking. All the suspense and plotwist were done so well.

My only critic is the following: I thought
Jason Bell being the DT Killer
was very predictable especially after
Andie's 'last words' e-mail.

I also really didn't like the last two chapters and the time skip. It just created unnessecary tension, we didn't need. It would be better, if the readers would have some more time to breathe. It was clear that
Ravi would get in touch with Pip
again.

However, the crime aspects (e.g.
the abduction, the almost-murder and the real murder. As well as the cover up, ESPECIALLY the cover up
were done so well that the two cons don't weigh that much to me.

This book simultaneously scared the shit out of me and was so amazing that I couldn’t put it down. I looooooved the darker edge this book has compared to the other books in this series. Again it’s not super realistic but I do not care. At all. Didn’t love the ending but the rest of the book more than enough made up for it.

Somehow, I picked up the 3rd book 3 years after reading the first two, i didn't plan on reading this and had heard mixed reviews about the ending.

and it was unhinged and messy but in ways i mostly ended up liking

Before reading this book, when i briefly glanced at reviews i thought the book was going to kill a major character like Ravi, that did not happen (thankfully) but many other things did.

The mystery lasts almost half of the book and is a very predictable one with Jason Bell being the DTKiller, but then it turns into a very different book, about covering up a murder (very detailed) and the psychological toll it takes on Pip and her friends, and even before her PTSD plays a major role in how her character changes, not always enjoyable but interesting nonetheless. I both hated and loved the ending. There was no way the ending would have a nice little bow tying everything together so it decided to be messy and I respect that, if we see the trajectory of the series this is where it was heading to, I understand Pip's decision regarding both Jason and Max, both are monsters. Did i wish Pip didn't have to break off people specially that scene with Ravi, yes, I am ok with every other decision Pip takes but that last one though understandable breaks your heart. Also glad it didn't end up with Ravi getting blamed for the murder, it would just ruin everything if the brown guy had to take any blame.. just no
