Wow this book is weird! Horrifying at times but always still “comix”. Nice to see his style change and develop through these stories.

Jim Woodring’s Frank books stand out as a visual reference. And some of the narratives get to a similar absurdist body horror as some Clowes stories.

While still a bizarre collection of stories I enjoyed I confess that I didn't resonate with this collection as much as I did with Dressings. In saying that however it's still worth a read, I once again appreciate the author's abundant oddity in story telling.

"Cody" was my favourite story out of this entire collection

the most imaginative evocative wonderful disturbing work i've ever encountered. so many of these pieces are just wonderful pieces of storytelling even without the art. but they are something really special with it. deforge's work walks right up to that 90s gross out cartoons line, but keeps you invested in the characters with the softness of his lines and expressiveness in even the most alien of faces. very casual is something so different from what i'm used to reading that i'm not really sure how to even criticize it.

Much body horror. Very much enjoyed it, although there was something disquieting about it. Hints of yonic themes, which would be unfamiliar and possible discomfort me given my social programming? I suspect so.

I am admittedly a robot, there were possibly deep body themes and emotional themes that I am not subtle enough to get. I really enjoyed the story of the man with a beagle for a body. It resonated a lot with me. There were hints of resonance elsewhere, the discomfort and the misshapen and the alienness that so many of the characters had, but yet I could not connect to it for other reasons.

As someone who is very much not into bodies and humanity, this book probably has themes of body and humanity that made me uncomfortable.

Stories were thin (but they didn't need to be otherwise) but they were good to read over, like a road trip you could probably stand to do again and again but probably will not.

Interesting collection, but uneven. As one friend put it, many stories "go until they stop;" the pacing and general weirdness suggest deeper meaning, but there's a aimlessness that make you wonder if you're being trolled. "All about the spitting deer" is the best comic in here.

Honestly, I think for the most part I just didn’t get it. A little too surreal for my taste. Might be up someone’s alley, who appreciates a certain grotesque imagery that is full of metaphors and symbolism.

this was fun to read right after her body & other parties, because carmen maria machado and michael deforge have a lot of the same interests-- oozing slime flesh blobs, body horror, having yourself as a character, including regular comic characters like snoopy or spider man or all the classic newspaper characters but making it grotesque and disturbing reminded me of the SVU chapter in HB&OP. I rlly enjoyed this collection but wanted everything to be longer. i liked the litter gang story the best both in concept and i loved the big feet characters. i love deforge's art so much and wish this wasn't a library book so i could hang some of the pages up. i wanted more of the snowman story and the basketball player who wanted to revamp the game.
