Nearly halfway through this book, it seemed generic and bland, but I heard that it gets good, and it did. At that point, I did nearly drop the book. I flew through the whole book with the chapters being short and sweet and getting there point across, some could have been 1 chapter combined. There were at times where some things could have been explored more, and I knew that old man would blend in at some point.
Theory: Tobias knew his son was alive and sent him to keep track of Avery. No clue who else would be the one that did keep track of Avery cause someone did and she did play chess with Toby.
5/5 ⭐️
I’ve been trying to finish this book for so long! Finally finished and hate myself for taking so long. It’s such a great book. I think that Jennifer Lynn Barnes did a good job with the characters, each of them have unique strong personalities that’s now a days is hard to find in books that have 3+ important characters, the love triangle didn’t feel force you could feel the unique tension between each of them.
The riddles, clues, mystery made me LOVE IT, def going to my all time favourites

The audiobook was fun enough. The premise and the brothers were interesting. I love mystery type novels, especially if they're reminiscent of Knives Out, which this very much was. However, it wasn't as clever as I wanted it to be. It was very predictable and the puzzles very convoluted. I didn't feel surprised at all. However, the characters were interesting enough and the story engaging enough that I found myself still pushing through anyway.

this book delivered EXACTLY what I hoped it would.
such a satisfying end, I ADORE the characters (all of them, really), the vibes, the mystery & the pacing. I also appreciate how laid back it was, though I could not stop reading and was very much intrigued (I hate those books that are ALYWAYS tense and scary, but this was a good mix)
Also appreciate the REALLY short chapters
only criticism: the German translation at times.
this books means a lot to me for some reason? and I REALLY wanna read the next ones.
And I gotta read more jennifer Lynn Barnes in general, I loved the first volume of the naturals too!!

I really enjoyed The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, so I came into The Inheritance Games with excitement. While the puzzle/mystery aspect kept me intrigued, the reading experience wasn’t as fast-paced or engaging as I expected for a YA mystery.
I didn’t feel connected to the Hawthorne brothers, and the love triangle didn’t quite land for me. Still, the puzzle elements were clever enough that I’ll probably continue with book two—but not right away.
