This is book one in the author’s Sunset Cove series and features former lovers, Brantley, ahem, PROFESSOR (Brantley) Hayes and Daniel, aka Finn, when Daniel was in college.
I just love me a good student/professor romance except that their HEA was a long time coming in this second chance love story after Brantley pushed Daniel to go after his dreams. Thank goodness he finally came to his senses and called him back home!
I first read this book six years ago, right after finishing Logan and Tate’s series and, while it wasn’t quite as steamy (can ANYONE compare to those two??!!) it still melted my heart and drug me down an Ella Frank rabbit hole where I ultimately ended up reading just about everything in her list (continuing to this day!). I honestly can’t tell you how much I loved revisiting these two, they were just so dang sweet together, they brought back a lot of memories from my early EF days… now I’m off to read Devil’s Kiss again!! 5 stars!
I received a copy of this book for free but am voluntarily leaving a review.

I liked the chemistry between Daniel and Bentley and I really enjoyed getting to see their past story as well as their relationship dynamic after reuniting. The besties were fun and I’m glad I picked this up.

All I can say is that this story was beautiful. The author draws you in immediately with the way a note pulls Finn home to the love of his life, even if he is torn about it. Finn was Brantley’s college student 7 years ago and they fell in love despite Brantley’s original resistance. After 3.5 years together, Brantley tells Finn he needs to go to law school in Chicago because he’s too brilliant to waste his talent locally. It devastates them both and Finn leaves. Brantley thought he would come back after school, but Finn didn’t…until he got the note from Brantley telling him to.
This story shows the changes in the characters over the 7 years they are apart and how they have to get to know each other again. It has flashbacks to their original love story to fill in some of the gaps. Some people don’t like flash backs, but I personally think they flesh out a story in a way that dialogue can’t. I also love that this story is dual POV, it gives such great perspective and insight into each character.
Finn took a two week vacation from work to come home to FL with the intention of finally getting Brantley out of his system. So the questions become: will Finn be able to overcome his anger at Brantley? When they reconnect will they fall in love all over again? What will happen at the end of the two weeks when Finn is supposed to go back to Chicago? Find out along with Brantley and Finley! #mmromance #angst #yearning #secondchanceromance #agegap #studentxprofessor

4.5⭐ (version FR ci-dessous)
I LOVED this book!
The first 50% is a masterpiece to me. I felt so many things, butterflies, emotions. The flashbacks were perfect. I haven't been into a book that much in a long time.
The second half was a little less intense and gripping than the beginning, there were hardly any flashbacks, some drama, which means I can't give it 5 ⭐, because I wish I would have loved it as much as the beginning.
But, wow, Brantley and Finn are soulmates. Real ones. They own my heart.
I'll definitely read this book again in the future!

I usually don't like a straight up (insert snicker here) romance novel. Ella Frank is the exception that sets the rule. She does an amazing job of getting me interested in her characters because they have real personalities. The tension between Brantley and Finn feels pretty real. Real enough that I want to either smack their thick skulls together, or give them a hug.
Enjoyable Story
I really enjoyed this first book into a new series and will definitely read the next! In the past I haven't enjoyed books that involved flashbacks but this was managed well.
