I can say that objectively, this is a great book. It's beautifully written and engrossing. The characters are fleshed out and complicated and the problems they have felt real and tangible.

That being said, it is really frustrating to read. The characters are hell bent on self destruction and while the discussions of grief and addiction are beautifully done, it's also incredibly overwhelming. I went into this book with different expectations which didn't help. I'm glad I read it, but it was undeniably a rough read.

I can’t decide between 4 and 4.25 stars.

Here are my thoughts:

-I was initially captured by the beautiful description of sisterhood and the fast plot. The book was easy to read and I stayed engaged in it.

-The author used so many big SAT words that felt so distracting. She described Lucky’s smile as “lupine” in like three different ways and it felt repetitive. She also used the word ostensibly way too many times and the phrase “apropos of nothing” more times than felt realistic for a normal human to use. I don’t know, maybe that’s a natural way for the author to talk but it felt unrealistic and annoying and took me out of the story.

- I wanted a little MORE but that is usually how I feel with a family drama with multiple characters. I need at least 400 pages 😂

-this was not as sad as I expected but that’s probably because I just read Demon Copperhead 😂😂😂

- I thought the ending was really beautiful and appreciated seeing the growth in each of the sisters even it was messy and imperfect

Overall a beautiful book that had a little less OOMPH than I had hoped but I still enjoyed it and would recommend.

This book was a breast! I picked this up and put it down several times in the beginning, but something always brought me back to it. As someone with 3 sisters I could see a little bit of us in the Blue sisters dynamic. We laugh, we cry, we fight, and we make up. We love each other and we hate each other. I wouldn't really recommend this book to anyone, but I think if you have siblings it's worth the read. I reflected a lot about my relationship with my siblings (my brothers too but especially my sisters) and my perspective of them and what they're going through.

It started amazing with the beautifully writen prologue. Then it went downhill for me. Although I managed to enjoy it, there are parts of the book that made me sat the book down to take a break due to the cringe.
Intially the pace is slow and enjoyable to get to know the character, however, further down, I found myself confused of whats going own. Feels a bit too tropy for the sake of the trope, I kept on waiting for the emotional tug throughout the book however it never got there.
I also wished the story will unravel the character for me instead of being described by the author.
Lastly, I did enjoy how this story conclude being hopeful and fulfilling.

This book won't be on my re-read pile nor reccomend to a friend due to the content warning.

Absolutely loved this book. I started it this morning and finished it this evening. I loved that it covered heavy topics and really focused on the flaws of the characters and how they moved forward and dealt with their grief.
