This is a masterpiece, it’s heavy going in a lot of places and I would advise people to read the trigger warnings especially if you suffer from endometriosis, drug and alcohol addiction.

But the way it captures the bond between sisters, parents and self is just unmatched.

I cried every time I read this book. I enjoyed Mellors' writing style even though there were repetitive parts that took me out of the story. The flow and descriptions are so satisfying.

This would’ve probably hit home more if I had a sister, but this book still did paint the picture of sisterhood in a clear enough light where I could begin to understand what it’s like. This story was a heartwarming yet heartbreaking depiction of what it means to grieve. What I liked most was how real the characters seemed, and how realistic their conversations/arguments were. Genuinely felt like the characters could hop off the page! Overall recommend this book, and I feel like this was a good introduction to this author!

As the oldest sister of 4 girls and someone who has endometriosis, this book spoke to my soul. This book touches on so many important issues, with the sisters connection at the heart of it all.

My heart broke for Nicky who experienced this illness in a way I’m glad I haven’t. I rooted for Bonnie and honestly could have read an entire book just about her. As the oldest, I empathized with Avery. The only character I just couldn’t get on board with was Lucky. I didn’t find anything about her redeemable.

I wanted to give it 5 stars because I did really like it but I needed more. More dialogue because so much of it felt like the author telling us rather than showing us. I wanted more of Bonnie and Pavel, but that’s because I’m a romance fan. And I wish we could have seen Avery build back the pieces of the destruction she set for her life. Authors always seem to miss taking the opportunity to put their characters through therapy sessions on the page or through rehab on the page. This book was heavily focused on addiction, I’d have liked to see more into the healing piece.

With all that said this was a really good book and I’m glad I picked it up. Someone get this in front of Reese Witherspoon because this has limited tv series written all over it.
