Coco Mellors writes so well. I picked this book up because I loved her first book, Cleopatra and Frankenstein. She did not disappoint. I love how vivid each description is. I love how many different themes she is able to explore in the span of 339 pages. I have nothing but good things to say about this book and its author.

I really got swept up in the emotions of this book. I felt like I was trapped in a downward spiral with these characters. The way Mellors writes about addiction is cutting and heartbreakingly realistic. That was the real standout of the book for me.
I thought the portrayal of the sisters and birth order leaned a bit into cliché, but maybe that’s because i’m a middle child?? and obviously I don’t know the epic highs and lows of being the eldest or the youngest.
The beginning and middle really captured me, but the ending didn’t do it for me.
