I am in love with the beautiful world-building and how we get thrown into pompeii AD 74 contrasted with the vulgar language to show the brutality in the wolf den. I found all the characters so realistic in the way they are so complex and all have motivations, a back story, things that make them them. Amara navigates trying to seek her freedom, whilst keeping her pimp and her fellow she-wolves happy. I feel like we see Amara change in this book, for better or worse I’m not too sure. I do feel the last chapter in the book had me hooked but my heart still broke.

(received as a pr/ad from the tandem collective)

The setting was immaculate and I now have the itch to watch documentaries on ancient Rome. Having visited Pompeii before, I felt completely immersed in the setting. Alas, the lack of a plot and not feeling connected to the MMC means I won't be continuing on. Documentaries though, I'll be hitting those hard.

Loved it and loving The House with the Golden Door even more!
