Definitely enjoyed this one. It's a great character driven story with a variety of characters each dealing with the emotional, mental, and physical abuse of sexual slavery in their unique ways. The relationships the main character Amara develops with the men in the story are complex and heartbreaking.

Completely engrossing historical novel set in Pompeii. Amara is a well brought up girl who through a series of mischances finds herself working as an enslaved prostitute in the town brothel in Pompeii. It is an awful life but she has the friendship of the other girls and an absolute determination to survive. I was totally absorbed in Amara's world and the fascinatingly nuanced and believable characters in it. A terrific read.

Sam nwm če bom kupla nadaljevanje serije.

Really slow, and didn’t care enough on this second read

I’m an easy sell for anything set in Ancient Rome, and this delivered—especially with its focus on the women of Pompeii’s brothel. It moved slowly (but I think that was by design). I’m genuinely looking forward to continuing the series—but I’m not so gripped that I feel the need to rearrange my reading list and dive immediately into it.
