Good story
I enjoyed the story around the super-powered cast. The reasons for them having powers were grounded in genre convention and that's good. I also understood why the two men were attracted t one another but I felt their relationship moved too fast.
Not a big fan of master and servant type stuff so ended up skipping past a lot of it.

3+⭐
I love sci-fi, but this kind of military heavy sci-fi is not my favourite. The writing is competent and the world is interesting enough, but I just wasn't terribly into it all. The focus of the story is on the action, not on the philosophical side of things. I would have been more interested in the societal aspects of these metahumans as they apparently were often seen as less-than-human even though they were just regular people with extra powers.
The main characters are okay, though I prefer Kyle, as Jamie is just a bit too much super: super rich, super confident, super fit, super sex machine. I mean these guys are superhuman but still. I've never really liked those types of heroes in straight romances I read when I was young and I still don't like them in gay ones. And while I don't really mind that there's a lot of sex, we barely see any other part of the relationship - even the epilogue is just another long sex scene. The sex is mostly pretty hot (though also superhuman), except for the repeated choking-on-dick-scenarios that don't really do it for me.
I enjoyed Kyle and Jamie meeting, and then the big gig with Kyle and Alexei was engaging, the best part of the book, really. But I just didn't quite hit it with this novel despite the promising premise. I'll try another series from the author.

I like this book. There is a lot of action and the world is interesting. Jamie and Kyle are fun, and it is very much Insta-lust.
But, it feels very much like a physical relationship that moves super fast. There really isn't anything shown for budding romance. The pair are mostly shown in bed or at work. There is very little in between. Also, the bedroom scenes are hot, but long, really long, drawn out and way over the top. My skip ahead option was used a lot since it felt monotonous after the first scene at the very beginning.
It is a fun book though. I recommend people read it, just know that the steam it over the top and the relationship at this point is not much more than physical.
