I was so excited when this showed up on my kindle. I love C.L. Matthews and her writing.

This book was hecka hott and spicy. Madden and Andy are so toxic at first but like also couples goals lol.

I loved every minute, every kink of this book. I loved we dove into mental health, I love all the kinks we explored SAFELY, I love we dabbled speaking about adoption.

I would love to see spin-off with Cars! I love them!

I’ve been wanting to read a C.L. Matthews book for so long, and boy, I’m happy to have had the chance now. This was… wow. I literally have no words.

A bit slow in some places, but for the moments when the plot was slow, the emotions (and writing) were there. I felt every single emotion the author conveyed between her characters. The writing itself *chef’s kiss* so poetic, so lovely--it made the book. It conveyed these emotions in a way so amazing I, again, have no words.

Going into this, I hadn’t realized it’s a taboo romance. Honestly, I skip trigger warnings. So I was surprised, and pleasantly so, since it’s definitely a relationship not done in books too often. It’s one of many things that assist this book in standing out so much.

Also, let’s chat about the steam. Um, yes please! That alone has hooked me to read other C.L. Mattew’s books. Everything you want is here.

It’s 2sLGBTQ+ friendly, which was a lovely addition. I feel like it was a very natural addition--as it should be, and nothing felt forced with the characters, which is nice. I hate when authors try to force the relationship just to have it there.

All in all it’s a book that’ll stick with me for a while

I haven't read a book in a while yet, that pulled as heavily on my emotions than Music Lights & Never Afters.
It's not an easy read, it's heavy. It's emotionally draining and played every chord of my emotions.
This story is a well written masterpiece by CL Matthews!

ugh

Two stars because the foreplay was hot. But that’s it. Andy drove me insane, such a pushover and whiny. And Madden? He could have been such a hot, possessive alpha male. But he came across as a jerk. And there was no redeeming either character.

I liked this one but it took me awhile to finish due to life and the story itself. At times I wasn't sure what to think and honestly I still feel the same. I liked Andy and Madden, but I couldn't relate to them. Because I couldn't relate to them, I didn't feel myself fully invested in their story. They were super hot and sexy together, in part due to the taboo nature of their relationship. This was just more of a dark and gritty story and for some reason while I liked it I struggled at times.

"Razorblade Kisses. I'd been calling them that since I romanticized dying, hurting myself to the brink of death, and loving the way it made me hate myself more."

This book was so emotionally heavy. And there are many trigger warnings for this one. Please read them before reading this book.

This book was beautifully written. My heart broke a thousand times for Madden and how beautifully broken he was. The way these characters were written is something you don't see very often and the representation was refreshing to read. I was able to connect to them and really felt who they were. That's not always easy to do. I wanted to hug them and scream at them all at the same time and tell them to get their shit together so they could be together!

I did feel it was a little long in some parts but I really loved seeing Madden and Andy at the end and how their life turned out.

Also even though it's in the trigger warnings I still was not prepared for the breeding kink! I absolutely loved it and it had me giggling every time it came up!

Boy oh Boy. I went into this book pretty blind and honestly it was amazing!!! That being said this book is pretty dark and there are lots of potential triggers so check the warning before you read.

MLNA is about Madden, the son of a rockstar legend, and Andy, his aunt - technically...normally family taboo freaks me out but they are not blood related and honestly it was written so well I wasn't bothered at all. This story follows their relationship through all the ups and downs of fame, loss, trauma, and love. The story was heartbreaking and engaging and honest and relatable while still being a fiction. I was hooked from the first paragraph.

Not only is the plot good but that spice is ON POINT. First we are hit with the taboo-ness and the tension. Then the dirty talking...

I rarely find a book that will cause some triggers to go off for me. This book had me sobbing into my pillow at 1 am and I took quite a few breaks during the reading so if you’re at easily triggered person, maybe take a few days.

This book is full of great advice “No one deserved ball sweat when going down on anyone.” And words that will make you need to take a breather or some time ““Maybe just a fuck or two, a couple thrusts. Then I’ll pull out?”

All over I loved this board it actually hit some really tough realistic points about parental loss but had some hot as fuck scenes.

When I tell you this book brought me out of a slump. I couldn’t finish a single book I’ve tried to read this month until I read Music, Lights and Never Afters. One thing I love about Cassie’s books is the way she handles mental health and self harm. It isn’t glorified or used as a shock factor. It’s raw, realistic and relatable. The relationship dynamic between Andy and Madden had all of the things I love about forbidden books. The push and pull between the characters until they cave and admit how they feel was one of my favorite things about their story. And sweet broken Madden
