I don’t know what to say, I’m all feels right now.

I adored this story! This book shows Madden & Andy dealing with all sorts of situations - grieve, loss, society norms, depression, anxiety and more - and was written in such a manner that it makes this story tragically beautiful.
The diversity and inclusivity also grants extra points. I loved the side characters just as much as I did the main couple (with the exception of one or two lol)
And more extra points because the spice was phenomenal!

Yes, it was forbidden love with a touch of taboo, but Mads & Andy are already on my list of “favorite book couples”.

“No matter music, lights, and never afters, Andy here right now trumped it all. She was the ending I wanted, even if the road was heady.”

WOW! Madden and Andy are… they’re EVERYTHING! I loved them.

Taboo, forbidden rockstar romance, angsty steaminess.

There are MANY, many trigger warnings. Personally, I didn’t even read them, but if you have triggers of any sort, you probably should read them.

Music Lights & Never Afters wasn’t an easy read by any means. You have to be a very open person to truly enjoy C.L.’s beautifully written story. This book is full of diverse characters and I seriously loved it.

Madden and Andy are “related” and I use that word loosely because she’s his adopted aunt, therefore not blood related, and they’re very close in age. So, while at first, it may seem a bit weird, it really isn’t. At least it wasn’t for me.

While this story is full of chaos, heartbreak, tragedy – it also shows a couple that learns to grow with each other, overcoming many obstacles. The growth between these two is amazing. They're kinky little freaks and I love them.

They're MINE. You can't have them.

You can read their story, though. And love them, too!

Not a favorite. Honestly, if I hadn’t purchased it, I would not have finished it. The writing was chaotic, the formatting was annoying, and overall the story just didn’t make me feel anything. The characters kept insinuating they were all dark and twisty, but we didn’t get to really understand any of it until far too late in the book. What could have been an emotional, gut-wrenching, steamy-hot tale stayed lukewarm and simmering for far too long for me to even care about the characters by the time it got there. Also, this was billed as a standalone, but it seemed there were tons of characters mentioned throughout whose underlying stories were spoken about as if we knew about them. Super annoying.

Hot

This is a spicy read. Emotional, too. It has a little bit of everything you might like in kinks:

taboo relationship
D/s
voyeurism/exhibitionism
blood play
knife/blade work
praise kink
slut shaming
edging
breeding

There's more, but I think you have an idea of what's in store.

And...the playlist C.L. Matthews put together is a pop punk/screamo/emo dream. Though I got too distracted listening to the music while reading. It made me want to wiggle around too much.

Anyways, I loved this. A rockstar romance with a seriously hot emo dude who's got some nasty demons and the woman who brings him to his knees. And offers his face as a throne. Aha! Queening! Add that to the kink list.

Hahaha this was great.

Beautifully Broken

This book gave me all the feels. Madden is a tragic character but reading his growth and development is so good. This has is it all it’s taboo. There’s definitely a lot of dark before the light but as always watch any trigger warnings. I pre-ordered this on a whim when I saw a video on tik tok and I’m so so glad I did.

I just… ugh my heart.

This one made me feel all the emotions. All the love. All the pain.

A love that was just meant to be even through all the heartache and loss.

I adore Andy plain and simple.

Maddens mouth and openness. Sir please.

A beautiful story. Go read it! CHECK TRIGGERS THO AND DON’T TAKE THEM LIGHTLY!

So I read this book not knowing anything about it, just a mention of it in a tick tok. I think this book could have finished about 3 sex scenes earlier. I kinda lost interest at around 80%. However this book definitely taught me a few things and I loved how it includes a range of sexualities. I feel like some of this book was a little embellished and over the top. It wasn’t a bad read, just maybe could have been a little shorter still getting the same point across and end up at the same place.

I literally cannot say enough about this book. The spice scenes were unmatched, the emotions were unmatched, the characters were unmatched. I felt every single emotion while reading this book and I would give anything to read it for the first time all over again. Madden’s character is beautifully written and he is beautifully broken. I liked Andy’s character but she was a little too immature. The diversity within the characters kept me intrigued and I honestly wish the world was as accepting as the characters written on the pages. This book will forever live rent free in my mind. GO READ IT!
