So I normally don't read a ton of YA which is weird because almost every time I pick one up, I love it. And normally the YA I do read is fantasy with magic and all that. As much as I love magical worlds, it was almost a pleasant surprise that this had none of that!

This book was fantastic! I love love love the sea-faring world and I love all of the characters (even the ones I don't like)! I started shipping Fable and West from the get go and I love the direction the story is going in.

The cliffhanger leading into the next book was fabulous and I don't use the word "fabulous" often! Haha.

It's just such a good book and I highly recommend it!

Fable is YA done right. I did not want to put down this perfectly paced story of a girl fighting for her place in the world. It was so good. Adrienne Young is a masterful writer, and she has created such a rich world of traders, dredgers, and those on the fringes fighting for daily survival. I can't wait to read more of this world.

I really liked reading about Fable as a character because she was reckless but still smart enough not to do things that may make her frustrating. The aesthetics of the ocean and islands and travel while not constantly fast-paced were enough for me to stay invested, especially when it involved other characters until I learned to care about them. For my first book about sea wayfarers and trade, I really enjoyed it!

Reading Sky in the Deep, I fell in love with Adrienne’s storytelling, and Fable did not disappoint. The way she paints the setting with her words is indescribable. Chapter by chapter, I feel as though I am there — I can smell the smells, picture the surroundings and hear the sounds she has described on the pages. I don’t think I’ve felt IN a story as much as I do in hers. When her characters feel something, it’s as if they’re reaching out of the pages making me feel it too. These stories are not over complicated, but still have so much depth to them. Fable is strong, but flawed, reminding me much of Eelyn, but with pirates instead of Vikings. And this cover is
