I'm sure middle-schoolers would love this; I found it obnoxiously far-fetched.

I only read this because of school but HEAR ME OUT. this book was actually not bad. I mean, the plot was pretty predictable but the characters were actually likable and slightly complex even, which is hard to achieve in around 250 pages.
however, it feels like this book is missing something. like obviously there's a climax but there's nothing SUPER captivating if that makes sense.
I would give it 3 stars but yassen in the ending changed that and now I'm interested to learn more about him and maybe even read the sequels so- 3.75 stars.

Alex Rider rules ;d

I’ve been on a bit of an Anthony Horowitz kick lately, so time to start Alex Rider. This was a quick audiobook, reminding me a lot of the 39 clues series. Espionage and action packed, this is a great upper middle grade option for reluctant readers. Predictable, fast-paced, and a great start to the series (if a little dated after 20 years)

Great book to hook kids into reading a series.

I started listening to this on my own, but after a few chapters I knew it would be a great book to read to my middle school boys. And I was right. My 13 and 12 year old boys really enjoyed this book about a 14 year old who becomes a spy. It was thrilling and had good writing. I can understand how there's a whole series about Alex Rider. My 13 year old immediately started book 2 after we finished this one tonight.
