This book delighted and mesmerized me, from the lush and eerie worldbuilding to the well developed characters and not to mention a canon sapphic romance. My only issues with the novel are pretty nitpicky: I found the pacing a little clunky (it took about 60 or so pages to truly get the book started), the first person present tense writing style grating, and I wanted more depth from the Rapunzel aspect of this retelling. Otherwise I loved every second.

I want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed this book!
I would never think to mix the supernatural with magic, but I think the author did so in a balanced and cohesive way.
The whole story reads like a fairytale, which makes it easy to read and digest despite the heavier themes still keeping you on your toes.
I didn’t read this book because it was marketed as a Rapunzel retelling, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone do that.
There are themes and plot points in common with the Rapunzel story, but at the end of the day this book isn’t a retelling.
It should be read as its own story without a retelling expectation, and appreciated as it is.

it just dragged on soooo much and wasn’t very exciting. i was so excited for it but so far not worth the excitement of the beautiful cover.

Cute with a happy ending. I kinda 1/2 listened to some as I did crafts and such which this book was perfect for as some bits could drag. Not supper thrilling. But a kinda nice predictable read. My younger parts (9-13yo) enjoyed it more then the adults.

I really wanted to like this book. It read to me a bit like a first draft and some of the dialogue was just, to me, not well written. They didn't speak naturally. And parts of the story weren't clear. I think I wish it was longer so the world would be more fleshed out but based on the writing that space may have been filled with more dialogue. I wish there was more show and less tell.
