You know cross over episodes in sit coms where a famous actor just happens to enter at the perfect time and the laugh track goes wild. That's what reading this book felt like. Except it kept happening over and over again.
Alex, Jules, Bridget's daughter, Rhys, Christian, Asher Donovan, heck even Farrah from her If Love series- all made an appearance.
And while it was nice, you could tell the story was grasping on to them to keep things interesting.
Sloane and Xavier were nice. They were fun. They had their fair share of confusing moments and it got a bit annoying towards the end.  I will say I think the story was moving too fast, with too much going on at some points and nothing going on at others. But I enjoyed this more than KoG so they have that going for them.

Tropes:
  • Reverse grumpy x sunshine
  • Billionaire romance (obviously)
  • Golden retriever mmc
  • Ice queen (ish) fmc
  • Family issues trauma bonding

I would probably say this book is my second favorite in the series so far. I’m not sure about the others for now. I do know however that king of pride will definitely be my first favorite always 💜👑🦖

First of all, this gave me more cocky/cheeky MMC rather than him being the sunshine in the reverse grumpy sunshine. Secondly, for some odd reason, Sloane and Xavier remind me of Josh and Jules. I don't know how to explain it but they gave the same energy. I also love how logical Sloane is as a main character. It's very rare that you find a FMC who is so aware that it delivers.
Like most FMC would blame Xavier for the secret meeting getting leaked but she didn't and I loved her for it. Also Xavier sneaking her sister away so they could see each other was so sweet. Now Miss Huang lost me when she wrote that Sloane's ex finacé cheating on her with her sister but she really lost me when he turned around and tried to get back together with Sloane and said he constantly compared her sister Georgia to her. And another thing is, Xavier was gonna get shit done! From planning meetups with her sister to killing messy news articles about them he stands on business. Him also punching Sloane's ex-fiancé was beautiful.
. One thing I will say is I was expecting more from Xavier as a love interest. Like it's known that Sloane hate-watches romcoms which isn't an issue, but I just believed he would have tried to live up to this
