This was an easy and enjoyable read for the most part. A fake relationship trope, the HEA was fairly predictable, but there were a few refreshing updates to the trope that I liked.

I enjoyed the fact that this fake relationship was established on real feelings upfront. Will and Lexi expressed their attraction and romantic interest early in the fake relationship. This allowed for so much room for their real relationship to take shape. Typically these stories are just people hiding the fact that they are truly interested in each other.

What I didn't enjoy was how immature Lexi seemed. The constant obsession with the relationship being A LIE and thinking Will was just playing along when both of them were clear about their real interest in each other made the book drag on for me.  They were dating for real, so her inability to accept that felt overdone.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC. Despite, my reviews are my own.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars for a funny, adorable, and raw love story.

I loved Lex and Will, and adored their relationship. There were moments I almost was annoyed at Lexi but then realized that she's young, and has had to grow up so fast.

I also have the softest spot for Gwen and her journey. Sequel material with Maisie or Gwen - they both need love stories.

Adorable.

I enjoyed this a lot! Faking engagements always get me excited!

Lexi is STRUGGLING through life. She used to have it all and be it all. Now, her father has died, her mother is in deep mourning, and Lexi is financially responsible for A LOT more than anyone realizes. She's struggling to pay some debt found after her father's passing and finishing school. She's working two jobs, including one as a waitress which she is HORRIBLE at. One particularly bad day a couple of her high school best friends turn up, she's so embarrassed. Enter Will. He's sitting in her section watching her struggle and ends up being her accomplice in her wild story. Even adding to it. The ride takes off and it's a coaster right until the end.

I absolutely recommend this book.

this is not technically a bad book and I had a fine enough time reading it. My main issues come from the fact I don’t think the fake engagement trope works outside of regency or historical romance. It just feels odd in a modern setting.

My second issue is this book went from fake dating, which is fine, to fake engagement for really no reason. Instead of correcting the mistake Will and Lexi decide to go with it yet everyone in their lives know it’s not real outside of their parents and some high school friends. What’s the point in fake dating/engagement if literally everyone important knows it’s fake?

I thought Will and Lexi had some cute moments but while they were fake engaged they immediately started dating. There was zero build up which just made for a lackluster romance.

Had trouble getting into the beginning of this one, but it got better as it went on. Fake engagement turned real love. Very predictable. Nothing going to keep you on the edge of your seat in this one, but it was cute!

A little cheesy, very predictable but oh so sweet and happy.

This was a perfect escape from a bit of a book rut I’ve been in (ahem trying to read ToG). This is a sweet closed door romance with a quirky adorable main lady and a stud of a main man. Throw in the fact that he’s a renowned CFO bachelor and add a fake engagement…recipe for success if I ever saw one

First- thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the honor to read this!

First- omg, this is such a cute read, and it truly has everything!

❤️ meet cute
❤️ cinnamon roll MMC
❤️ tough independent FMC learning to love herself
❤️ fake dating trope
❤️ they both fall, but he falls first and harder
❤️ slow burn
❤️ opposites attract

This book is so fun. Will and Lexi’s connection is everything! He sees her for who she truly is and loves her regardless of her flaws or where she comes from. Their story is obviously front and center, but this book has such great subplots too. Lexi learning to cope with grief, change, and how to love herself. Lexi’s mom overcoming her own grief, and learning to move on after losing the love of her life, and prove to Lexi she is capable of caring for herself! Will learning to stand up for himself and what he wants and not succumb to his parents wishes. Ugh it’s truly just a cute, sweet read. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cute, sweet, fall read!
