Can't Help Falling in Love by Sophie Sullivan is a heartfelt, friends to lovers romance, taking place in Seattle, with a fake dating/fake engagement trope, that begins with the most hysterical awkward meet cute. Meeting at the restaurant where Lexi was waitressing, Will was supportive; helping her by pretending to be her boyfriend when her former close friends show up at the restaurant. Attending a party together for one of those friends, things begin to spiral out of control starting with a misunderstanding that results in them being engaged; that is publicized in the press. Lexi and Will share a connection that sparks, despite their different situations and backgrounds. With all this against them, they decide to date while remaining publicly engaged. Their romance might have started with a fake engagement, but the more time these two spend together, the more real their relationship feels; so they decide to try and make one. They were perfect for each other, complementing one another, and their chemistry was electric.
Ms. Sullivan wrote a wonderful and beautiful story filled with themes of grief, healing, love, and second chances. Lexi's journey from heartbreak to hope is depicted with depth and genuineness, making her grow, and the romance that blooms feel believable and deserving. It was wonderful that Will’s sisters were amazing, provided a strong support system for him, loved him, and wanted the best for him.

Will made this book for me. I definitely understood where Lexi was coming from but there were points throughout the story where she annoyed me so much haha. The writing didn't start out the strongest (if I had to hear Lexi describe her best friend as bestie one more time in one paragraph, I was going to scream) but I thought it found a good rhythm after the first few chapters. I'll definitely be reading more from this author!

Well this was cute! I loved the character development between both the FMC and the MMC. It was swoony and unique. I think I just was a bit bred with the plotline at times. Like there wasn't enough substance and I was waiting for that *sparkle* between the characters and the plot. Lexi (FMC) really annoyed me at times and I just couldn't connect with her all the way. Easy read with a few hiccups but overall I would recommend for an end of summer romance!

2.5 ✨ If you truly love Hallmark movies and those cheesy Christmas movies that come out on Netflix every year, this may be for you. Switch out Christmas for Fall and Can’t Help Falling in Love is right on brand. Truth be told, if I wasn’t super committed to my book reviews, I would’ve DNF’d this. 80% into the book, someone finally says the obvious “You worry too much about what other people think.” That is Lexie’s POV the entire time in a nutshell. Plus “maybe there is life after high school.” 8 years later discovering this while also trying to fall in love . . . what a time. Nothing to say about the MMC, he’s just there lol.
Also #JusticeForGwen, I understood her way more than Lexie if we’re being honest.

My library book was due and after looking at reviews and feeling bored myself already, it just didn't seem where I could best spend my reading time.
