The Silence of the Lambs is an absolutely essential horror/thriller read, just as the film adaptation is a necessary watch for horror movie fans. It is exquisite.
That said, the rampant body-shaming throughout this book is uncomfortable and unnecessary.

While the movie was better, I did enjoy the novel. I did read it many many years ago so I am thinking of the books though the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia but what the heck. 4 stars it is!
My overarching memory of the book is that I was reading this book in class instead of studying and the teacher confiscated the book. Testament to how engaged I was ... though that could have been the computer class which was boring. 😇

The book is very dry at times. I feel like there was a lot of filler conversations, chapters, just a lot of things that were not necessary for the story. About half way through I just started skimming over paragraphs, and only reading what mattered. I would say the book would be much shorter and much more interesting with out so much wasted information. The main story line of the characters was great. The book had a lot of potential. As much as I hate not finishing a series, I believe I will take a break and read some other things before starting the next book. This one took far too long to read for the simple fact I dreaded all the non sense.
