ohdios he llorado mucho con este libro, sinceramente el principio me resultó un poco indiferente, pero luego ya me enganchó mucho y las últimas páginas me destrozaron, aunque el final me ha encantado y es {£}${\`}¢×$¥[

This books follows the story of Amelie, a woman who falls madly in love with Reese – who is probably one of the worst characters I have ever read – and the decline of their toxic relationship.
The disbalance of power, portraited in this relationship, reveals how much someone can start as a light breeze in your life and slowly, but surely, turn into a heavy weight – hard to carry but even harder to let go. The sort of love that makes you unware of the loneliness that you have been forced into. A stain – that’s pretty much the meaning of Reese in Amelie’s life –, a love once believe to be real, a hidden trauma waiting to strike.
It’s the enormous power that he once held over her, that showcases her need for closure and makes her visit – has it is referred in the title of this book – all the places she has ever cried because of him.

There were parts of the book where I was captivated, however, it turned out to be uncomfortable at times – although never too graphic. Holly Bourne does an excellent job when introducing some of the heavy subjects portraited in the story – bringing awareness to what can still happen in many women’s lives – but, in my opinion, it made the storytelling confusing at times.
It is important, however, to check the trigger warnings before deciding to pick up this book. As an example, I did find the portrait of the sexual assault scene to be a bit rough, so if you’re sensitive to the topic, or any other trigger warning, please consider before reading this one.

I do believe that the story itself, and the way it was told, conveyed the message in a smart way. Bourne was able to address the subject in a perceptive form, which is always important for our present society.

This book follows the memory map of Amelie, a young college student, who is tracing back her steps and confronts painful truths and memories that her mind has repressed and replaced with many lies about her relationship with Reese, Reese, and herself.

Although seemingly simple, i appreciated the layers of unpacked trauma as the memories of Amelie unravel.  The first few chapters start off a bit shaky and slow -- but the more Amelie remembers snippets from her relationship with Reese, the more we also understand how she was ultimately destroyed by a toxic relationship that she misunderstood as true love.

"I'm grieving for the me I was before I met you. I'm growing her back but she'll never be the same."

I loved how this book illustrates not only what toxic relationships and red flags can look like and the long term effects that it can have on the victims, but also how there is hope after the abuse and there are resources for healing.

"I sometimes think maybe all the tears we cry are due to this huge gap between how-we-think-things-should-go and what-life-actually-gives-you"

Heartbreaking. Clever. An important analysis of how a toxic relationship can be disguised as love. Just brilliant.

I wish I'd read this when I was younger, might have saved me from some things.

Ocena: 3
