There were times when, along with Percy and Felicity, I got really annoyed or even angry with Monty. But I think that was the point. Monty is a flawed character and throughout the book he grows and develops. I think it's actually cool that the author took the risk of starting out with a main character that I didn't actually like as a person. I thought he was funny and I felt empathy for him. But I thought he was a brat. I think a lot of books choose to introduce their characters with more palatable flaws out of fear that the reader won't like them. But the author was able to blend his charisma and flaws together. He was fun to read about, despite his flaws and I was constantly cheering for him to grow. Overall, I would highly recommend this book, as well as the audiobook.

The main character does work in his drinking but it is a major theme in the book. Drinking & the urge to drink alcohol are brought up frequently so please be aware reading & seek help if needed!anticapitalist_2000's review against another edition

I didn't enjoy Monty's character originally. I thought he was a selfish fuckboy alcoholic. Plus I hate in gay books when authors make the bi characters hook up with girls. If I wanted to read a hook up scene between a man and a woman I would have read a f/m romance rather than a m/m romance. Like it felt like Monty had more content with women than with his actual love interest Percy and I was very annoyed by that because as a gay person I want to read gay content which is the reason I read this book to begin with.
While Monty did have some funny moments, I didn't come around to Monty until towards the end of the book. I preferred both Percy and Felicity a lot more. for most of the book.
Also I found out the author is problematic so it also makes me also enjoy the book a bit less. I will try reading the others because I am interested to see more about the series and hopefully also get more Percy and Monty content but I will do so by also borrowing from the library like I did with this book.
