Fun little short about Alexia’s father set in Egypt. Not much to this but it’s a fun little glimpse into Mr Tarabotti’s life and it was definitely fun seeing Floote as a younger man.

Decent intro, sets the tone, and prepares us for the paranormals.

I enjoyed this and while I have read the parasol protectorate series I don't think you'd need to have read it to enjoy it.

(it was a bit odd to have a main character who didn't like supernaturals, I've got quite used to liking them in the other books)

My darling Floote <3 and we can certainly see where Alexia gets it, don't we?

Oh, and Phinkerlington rings a bell ;)

Very enjoyable short read - I read this as part of the read along her fan group is doing.

Interesting background on Alexia's parents, including the fact that her dad is kind of a jerk.

One of the shortest pieces I’ve read by Carriger I think, I really liked reading about Alessandro Tarabotti, but I’d have preferred a little more about his character and a little more story! Also didn’t get the usual sense of place I get with her works, maybe I’m just wanting to reread her novels!

An insight into what Alexia's father Alexander was up to in Egypt, how he thinks as a souless, and how his life is vastly different from Alexia's.

A fun spy, paranormal, Victorian short story that I hope sparks more :)

Interesting to see familiar characters when they were younger. It wasn't really the story I wanted to read, though. :)
