Meh...
I was so ready to learn a bit more about Alexia's father but hear he is just self centered and not much more. There is a little hint? that he might play both sides (sexually) but that was it for more on his character. We did not get to see what turned him from the Templars, or what the point of the cat, or other were-creatures were. I was not much entertained in fact had to read it twice as a drifted. It is short, that said I now can delete it from my Kindle as I will never read it again. I'm not sure the point this was trying to make and wish I got some insight but didn't really.

A prequel to the Parasol Protectorate series. The story was helpful.

Note on audiobook production: The audiobook production was lacking, however, I did like the attempt at an old timey radio show style presentation. The readers were a bit rushed.

Well, this was disappointing. I was very excited to get some insight on Alessandro Tarabotti, Alexia's father and a central point in the entire Parasol series, but I despised the character and I don't think this little story served to any purpose in the main series. He really is elitist and is contemptuous towards almost everyone else, as well as supernatural creatures. I wished we got to see a different aspect of his, like when he abandoned the Templars and got involved with the English government - maybe it would serve to humanize him a bit. As it is, it had the total opposite effect and I honestly wish I hadn't read this.

It's entertaining enough but incredibly short. Most of my questions aren't answered.

I didn't find this particularly compelling. Though it was nice meeting the dad. Sad how we met the mom.

Ha, Should have read this first to learn about the other shifters but oh well. I liked it and it was good to see how Alexia father and mother met.

I enjoyed this glimpse into the life of Alessandro & getting to see a 'young' Floote in action. Well written and enjoyable.

Fun, short. Reads like a LARP session.
