The concept was such a great one and then he just tanked it. It already starts with 'the seventh son of the seventh son'... this boy have 6 sisters, he is the 1st son. This is not how that prophecy works. The parents are horrible, the child is a bore and covens don't just kidnap unknowing and unwilling kids to trick/force them into their group. Which they did in every way and especially by having them sign their name before having any knowledge. Yoj are supposed to do that by your choice and free will, so that should've hapened on the 13th birthday and only if the child had decided to join. How can you even know if they are right for your coven if you keep everything a secret untill the moment supreme?

It’s been a long day but I’ve been wanting to read this book for weeks ever since I found out if it’s existence (I had read the second book when I was younger without realizing it was a second book); so I made it through and then fell asleep lol
But it’s really good!! I had the ‘advantage’ of already knowing what happened in the second book, so I knew what was going on, but it was fun seeing the character slowly realize it.
After my nap I realized I would’ve loved to see a bit more of how was David different from his 13th birthday and accepting the school to the first time he sees his parents again. A bit more about his classes and Groosham as it was (magical) and not through the lens of ‘idk what’s going on here’
But it’s really good!! I had the ‘advantage’ of already knowing what happened in the second book, so I knew what was going on, but it was fun seeing the character slowly realize it.
