I really enjoyed this - Luc was so full of himself yet he came across as funny and lovable, not arrogant. The sex was hot and the plot made it more than just a quick PWP.

French chef Luc Tessier is famous, sexy, and talented – and he knows it. Luc’s arrogant, but he’s got the skills to back it up, both in the kitchen and in the bedroom. Luc has everything he wants…except a good review from Daniel Sheridan. The English food critic blasts Luc and his cooking regularly, but Luc has a plan. He has invited Daniel to dine in his restaurant. One glance at Daniel, however, is almost enough to ruin the evening. The stuffy food critic looks like he’s hot off the runway and if Luc plays his cards right, the night will end with Daniel as his dessert.
Tempers run hot enough to burn down a kitchen when two hard-headed heroes meet in Just Desserts. I was charmed by Scarlet Blackwell’s deft hand with humor – there were definitely a few parts of Just Desserts that had me laughing out loud. Sadly, however, I wasn’t equally charmed by the story’s heroes. Luc and Daniel came across as shallow, and though in theory love had changed them by the end of Just Desserts, it was a case of tell rather than show. A bit more maturity would have balanced out Luc’s theatrics and Daniel’s sometimes teenager-like attitude. Still, Just Desserts was as decadent – if not as sweet – as one of Luc’s desserts and I think perhaps another book by Ms. Blackwell might suit me better.

I hated the hero. I get that he was supposed to be the playboy type but he was so arrogant. I just wanted him to get slapped the whole time.

This was a m/m short story romance about a chef and food critic that do a dance of conflict back and forth that explodes into passion during a dinner service that the chef has invited the critic to. It was all right, but I had little interest in reading the subsequent books in the series, or even rereading this book. I think the reason I disliked it so was because the chef seemed to not care how much he used all the partners he had around him, nor was he concerned with sexual disease from having so many partners. Another problem I had with it was the fact that we never got in depth with the characters enough to warrant subsequent books, in my eyes. It was a quick read, but in the end I was disappointed in the lack of connection with the characters and the lack of understanding as to why the characters were the way they were written. Perhaps the history comes in the other novels in the series, but this reader was not hooked enough to care.

The first of a trilogy in a light-hearted sex romp. Here we are introduced to the MC's and witness their first face-to-face meeting. Suspend belief and go along for the ride.
3.5 stars back to 3 for GR as short for the money, I got lucky and was able to lend a copy.

I love a guy with attitude and Luc has it in spades! This was a light, fun read!

If there is a romance cliche that isn't hit in the first chapters, I haven't heard about it. I assume this was intentional (violet eyes?) and intended to be funny, but for me it didn't quite get there. So I was left with a competent, mildly amusing story that was neither laugh-out-loud not really engaging. There were some funny moments. (The gift of vegetables - great line in the thank-you note!) but not enough for me to raise it out of the middle ranks.

Cute story. I liked the dynamic between Luc and Daniel. Two hot tamales. Looking forward to the sequels.

Cracky as all crack. The wooing exchange was excellent. (A bouquet of phallic vegetables! Priceless.)
FYI. High sex content to page count. For me anyway, your mileage may vary.
