I will say that this was an extremely bold choice for required reading in a sophomore English class

I wish I’d read this book earlier. The emotions of young boys versus the awful situation they’ve found themselves and the psychological transformations they all undergo are so powerful and terrifying. Although a bit stoic/cryptic at times, I honestly enjoyed having to read many paragraphs multiple times to really comprehend what was going on. It reminded me of reading the color of the apple scene in ‘The Giver’ in middle school. This story and it’s characters are already very close to my heart <3

Hoooooo boy did I love this book! This was dark, twisted, surreal at times and just so, so good. I'm glad I read this as an adult because I never would have caught all the glorious nuance had I read it when I was younger. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had me gasping when things happened to certain characters. It's an interesting study on feral humanity and definitely stands the test of time.

I didn’t enjoy reading this book, and I don’t think I was meant to.
That being said, this book made me think.   Think about concepts like empathy and who and who not to feel it for. When does a victim become a perpetrator and can it be prevented? At what capacity, if at all, am I allowed to feel for one who commits a heinous crime.
Even questions of my own morality. In what way would my moral compass be altered if put into a similar situation?  What would my breaking point be? What might that look like?
I want to broaden my horizons in search of more books that make me feel this way, long after I’ve read the last page.
Uncomfortable and curious.

This book really made me think of what a world without rules would be.

This book had me in its hold from the first page. I found it hard to put down. Even though this book contains violence there is a bigger picture to it which I liked.

This book had a lot to it, you had to look deep to find it but once you did everything fell into place.

This book is probably one that I will think about for some time. It was a very well written book and a good book to start off with if you are new to classics.

A lot of wording choices in this novel came off as odd or creepy, and the plot was very scattered. Some good funny moments. Unrealistic behavior.
