Gifted to me by a dear friend, this book is electric with its distinctive cast of personalities and easy exchange between the Old World and the New, reminding readers who become captured by the story of the power of the spiritual staring them in the eyes.

This book is one of a kind. I don't really know where to begin describing it. There are so many intricate details that pull the story together -- not to wrap it up into a neat bow, but to describe the Ada's experience. The format is very serpentine -- going back and forth in different ways that are disjointed, but fit precisely because of that disjointedness. This is a story that I am going to spend a lot of time processing and will definitely reread. It was intense and liminal.
