I’d seen the movie before I read the book, but there was still plenty of mystery and intensity. Content warnings galore here! Personally, I think the original Swedish title, Men Who Hate Women, works a lot better for the story, even if it’s less catchy. (Or at the very least, the tattoo should be more prominent in the story?)

This book has a slow start and was a bit difficult to get into, but I ended up attached to the quirky characters and enjoyed the story. I loved Salander and her style. I feel like her character somewhat stood opposed to the other more misogynistic themes, and I like how she never let herself fall into the typical “victim” mindset.

Even victims of extreme sexual assault are expected to act in a certain way, and I love her unabashed commitment to retribution.

The plot lines sometimes felt convoluted and drawn out, but overall the book kept my interest.
