Beautiful writing but didn't grab me. Put it down halfway through and never returned.

This one feels weird to rate because it’s like I’m rating someone’s life/thoughts. While I appreciated the author’s POV, I feel like he just got going with something interesting at the end and then it was over. I did find it interesting that the author spoke/wrote like someone who was around my age or a little older when in reality the author is closer in age to my parents (which you can tell by the technology that’s around when the author is in college). I guess I was just expecting more from this one, sadly.

4.5 stars. Audio read by the author. Part coming-of-age story; part child of Asian American immigrants story; and part grief/guilt story, this book shares the author’s college years during which a tragedy befalls a good friend of his. How he deals with this tragedy and how it affects his life going forward is told with poignancy and insight. Some beautiful writing.
